Has anyone else realized that Z. doesn't have much hair? My fingers are itching to do her hair, but there's nothing to do with it yet. I am so desperate that I am going to buy some glitter gel for the trip and at least glitter her up. It's the least I can do. Well, it's the only thing I can do.
I am not a bow person. I am fairly choosy about hair ornaments. Not that any of them would stay in Z.'s hair currently. I'm just informing you that suggesting big boutique bows would not get us anywhere.
Now see these bandanas? Here is one on a model. Aren't they the sweetest things? I heart them, I tell you. So I ordered some. Knowing that they would be too big for Z. But I couldn't resist them. She'll grow into them some day.
Now I want to order another set and take one apart. Except that one bandana is eight dollars of goodness. (Too much to spend on them, I know, but think of the years of wear we are going to get. Contemplate that.) And the fact that if I take one apart it might not get me any closer to figuring out how to sew my own in a smaller size. I think I need my friend Shelba or RUNGIRLRUN to help me out. I will post a photo of Z. in one later tonight after she gets up from her nap because she's pretty cute even though the bandana is way too big.
You see how much bigger her head needs to be? Sigh.

I am with you on the anti-bow sentament. I saw these on someone's etsy shop and while I usually hate the garter band on baby head look these are awfully cute.

for the 4.5 seconds they would actually stay on her head that is.
you cold also try a little plain elastic head band and then sew on a cute felt flower or little fabric broach or something. Something like one of these maybe?

I don't even have a little girl and I sit around thinking of all the cute little things I will make if I ever do.
Posted by: Amy at March 21, 2006 5:52 PMIt took me a minute to figure out how that thing works, but here's what it looks like to me: You take a big square of fabric, sew two ends together (wrong side out), turn it right side out, and press it so it's a rectangle. Take a smaller square of fabric, do the same thing so you have a rectangle that's the same width as some wide elastic (1 inch?), but longer than the elastic (the length you want the back to be). Put the elastic inside the small rectangle, stretch it so it's the same length as the rectangle, and hold it down with rows of stitching. Gather the cut ends of the big rectangle and attach them to the elastic-filled rectangle. Obviously there's a little finish work involved there.
Or you could just do the glitter gel.
Posted by: Sister Carrie at March 21, 2006 5:59 PMThese are too cute. I'm going to try to make some or at least something similiar. I just bought some material that would look great. If I have any luck, I'll send you one. I'll email if I do.
Posted by: traci at March 21, 2006 8:48 PMYou're right- she's darn cute!
I too am itching to do LT's hair. But alas, she has the same hair is Z., so no pigtails here either.
