This week promised to start off badly and take a sharp upturn midweek. It didn't disappoint.
Right after K. left yesterday for a short business trip (if 74 uninterrupted hours with two preschoolers can be considered short EVER) I got the worst cramps I've had in years. Four days early.
I wanted to lay on the couch, pop tylenol, and moan. Instead I interacted and parented and cooked and cleaned up. I was in misery. K. was at the movies.
This morning, in an unprecedented move, the cramps were still here. Hoo. Ray. I have spent the day veering between the fibroid and pre-menopause as likely explanations for the cramps and the early arrival. I am generally as regular as old faithful.
But counting the days until Thursday passes the hours. Thursday. Thursday is...well...embarrassing. Slightly embarrassing anyway.
Once I figured out that I liked to travel I promised myself that I would say yes to every reasonable opportunity that presented itself. And I do so love to travel. I love all kinds of traveling. Adventurous. Time share-y. Unusual. Big city. Planned. Scary. (Well, a bit anyway.) Touristy. Relaxing. Theme park. Ah, theme park. There we are.
You see, we are going to Disney. Again. Yes, we were just there in November. Yes, we are going again this coming November for a big blowout with K.'s family. Yes, that seems like a lot of Disney, even for me.
But K.'s mom won a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth. And for a variety of reasons none of K.'s siblings could accompany her. And so we said, "Well, of course we'll go if no one else will," and so it is. We are leaving Thursday for a short jaunt to Florida. I will be at WDW 3 times in the space of slightly greater than 365 days. I am looking forward to going. I love stupid old Disney, animatronic blacklight nostalgia and all. I love getting away from home. I love touristy Orlando. And I love getting my period early when it means that I will be able to swim with the kids this weekend.
So it isn't all bad around here. Just a little bad. Until Wednesday. Then good. Well, good in a really bad touristy way.
Posted by grrlTravels at April 24, 2006 4:00 PMWe are DisneyLAND aholics, and have never gone to DisneyWORLD. Are there "deals" to be had on rooms? or can you email with some recommendations? That will be our next "big" trip before Ryleigh turns 2....
Ever been on the cruise???
Stacey
The cruise is very, very nice. It tends to be a little on the expensive side, but the ships are beautiful, the activities totally geared toward families, and Disney's private island is really gorgeous and a lot of fun. The food is great, and the crew is the friendliest and happiest that I've seen. Lots of photo ops with Mickey and friends. My biggest complaint is that the itineraries are so dull. But I think they have a new ship that will be sailing in Europe and that is much more interesting to me. Yep, I loved the cruise. We've been on the 3-day (waaaaay to short to even call a cruise) and the 4-day (better) and hope to do the 7 day soon-ish.
Deals on rooms. Hmmmm. We have a Disney timeshare so our rooms are free. Ha ha ha ha ha. But you know what I mean. I shall ponder for you.
Posted by: Amy/grrlTravels at April 24, 2006 10:22 PMWe're Disney fanatics too. We just booked another trip for the end of September with the free dining plan they are offering.
Stacey,
www.mousesavers.com has all the room deals available. I use this site often.
Have fun in Disney!
Posted by: mimi at April 24, 2006 11:04 PMHave lots of fun just being together - especially with K. having been gone again. I hope that you're feeling better today!
Posted by: heather at April 25, 2006 8:20 AMI am soooo jealous! I love Disneyworld! So you have cramps - at least your period will be over while you are at Disneyworld. Never apologize for Disneyworld - the only people who don't like it have either never been there or are just grump-a-lumps. Yes, it is commercialized, so is the rest of our country. Go, have a great time and if you need an extra person to help take care of the kids, I'd be glad to join you.
