Tagged: 7 x 7

A million years ago in internet time Katie J tagged me for a MEME. I want to play since I've never been tagged before. But I've already done this MEME. So I'm going to adjust it a bit.

7 by 7 Proves I'm Weird
(I said to an online friend of mine the other day something to the effect that "I know I'm weird...blah blah blah" and she agreed unhesitatingly, saying something like "We love you even though you are weird." And then I thought to myself Oh dear everyone thinks I'm weird and I never knew it. Now you do and so do I.)

7 Things I Want To Do Without Dying of Embarrassment:

  1. Have pink hair

  2. Wear whatever I want

  3. Start my craft blog

  4. Let people come in my house without tons of advance notice

  5. Speak up in public

  6. Growl menacingly when someone asks me something inappropriate

  7. Leave a restaurant with a huge boogie in my nose, lettuce in my teeth and t.p. stuck to my shoe

7 Things I Cannot Do In The Summer:

  1. Cook soup

  2. Wear socks

  3. Touch yarn

  4. Organize anything

  5. Think about marshmallows

  6. Buy a rug

  7. Imagine insects in my hair
(Seasonless, but more important in the summer)

7 Things I Can Do Which Are Meaningless Unless You Are Still In Junior High:

  1. Bend my double jointed fingers and thumbs alarmingly

  2. Triumph at Nerts

  3. Change my handwriting to suit my mood

  4. Pack a grocery bag with stunning efficiency

  5. Make one of those little foldy paper things with the boys names in them (also a pretty mean flat football thingy)

  6. Trace things

  7. Figure out which boys really like me and which ones are just keeping me as a backup to the backup to the backup to the backup, figure out makeup, have some poise, not die of embarrassment when someone speaks to me, find clothes that fit properly, embrace my period, eat a too-warm sandwich in a stinky lunch room

[I was just pulling your leg on number 7. I still can't do any of those things.]

7 Things That Attracted Me To My New House:

  1. Moss

  2. Lots of doors

  3. There is a circle in the house (you know, for the kids to run around)

  4. Non-creepy basement

  5. Stationary tub

  6. Closet bonanza (comparatively)

  7. It isn't my old house

7 Things I Say Most Often When I Am Crying:

  1. I'm so tired

  2. She won't eat anything

  3. I'm so tired

  4. I don't know why I'm crying

  5. I'm so tired

  6. I think it's PMS

  7. I'm so tired

7 Children's Books I'm Adding To My Own Collection:

  1. I Am Not Sleepy and I Will Not Go to Bed
Any of the Charlie and Lola books really. I love, love, love them. They are art with a fun story.

  2. Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale
For some reason the photographs with the cartoons superimposed make me exceedingly happy. A little too happy.

  3. Long-Long's New Year: A Story About The Chinese Spring Festival
I bought this book during a mad book buying spree right before CNY last year at which time I stomped around BandN with a steely glint in my eye KNOWING that there must be some CNY books there since they have books for every other holiday. They did but they were hidden on some random endcap which angered me to no end. This book is a keeper. The illustrations are lovely and the story very accessible and fun.

  4. Diary of a Wombat
Worth it solely for the line: "Scratched the itchy bits."

  5. When Sheep Cannot Sleep: The Counting Book
    Clever with hilarious illustrations.

  6. Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type
If you haven't run into this book you might want to make sure you aren't living under a rock. That said, it's deliciously wacky.

  7. Anthony and the Girls
This book is darn cute and quietly funny. And it's short, very, very short, for those nights you are trying to Get The Kids To Bed Already with a standing 3 book minimum.

7 Children's Movies I Can Watch For the Bazillionth Time Without Wanting To Rip My Eyes from Their Sockets:

  1. Babe
I love this movie. I make the kids watch it for me. The scenery is gorgeous, the sets funny, and it is so quietly witty.

  2. Finding Nemo
Because I have a poor memory and a discombobulated brain I laugh at Ellen every time.

  3. Garfield
You have to be able to stomach Breckin Meyer, but I've always thought he was kind of cute. And then you have to be able to stomach Jennifer Love Hewitt as a vet in the ridiculous outfits they put her in. Harder.

  4. The Little Bear Movie
I find the voices on the tv show so soothing they practically make me want to go to sleep. In a good way.

  5. Herbie: Fully Loaded
Well, back when I thought L.L. was a "nice girl" this one was on the list. Now that I read the gossip rags it's much harder to watch.

Ok, I knew ahead of time that there weren't 7 whole movies that I could watch without curling up on the floor in a ball. I will mention that E. tends to be somewhat sensitive and gets afraid of something during every single movie, so I've weeded out many movies that we have watched in the past. I am sure that our repertoire will be expanded eventually. And then I will beg him to stop watching all that gory crap.

I don't know what magic spell I have cast on you but you bought a rug with me this summer...and pulled a bug from my hair...all in one night! How can you be friends with me when I threaten all you stand for??? XOXO T.

Aaargghh! Sorry I tagged you on something you've already done. Yeah, my memory sucks too. Love the new list, might have to steal it for my blog. Thanks for playing along Amy!

Fun Post! For the movies, what about The Princess Bride, Goonies, or Sleepless in Seattle? Seeing those over and over again doesn't bother me. On a random tangent... Did you ever see Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas as a kid? I remember watching it when they'd have those free HBO weekends on TV and I absolutely loved it! :) I saw it on DVD last year and had to get it. Although it was more enjoyable when I was younger, I still liked it a lot, but hey, I'm weird like that. I'm a lot like Dori too, no memory.

Knuffle Bunny is a top 3 favorite of Dumpling's!

Posted by: mortimersmom at August 28, 2006 9:09 PM

Ah but E. will not let us read Knuffle Bunny to him. We get to the page where they inadvertently put K.B. in the washer and he gets this look of pure dawning horror and then covers his eyes and refuses to look at a single page until they return to the laundromat. Perhaps telling him Dumpling likes the book will help. But I doubt it. Such is the love a boy has for his Little Guy.

Am I the only one who finds the farmer in Babe attractive? It hits me everytime I watch that movie. I think it has to do with the part when he dances for Babe.

Do I need to get out more?

I would also like to be able to have people come to my house without a ton of advance notice dying of embarrassment. Even in my new and nicer house I still hate unannounced visits from people. I freak out. I hate, hate, hate it. What's that about and why won't it go away? Oh, and I love Charlie and Lola and Little Bear and hate to touch yarn in the summer. Hee!

Why, oh why would a craft blog be embarrassing? Just start it already! You know you wanna do it. I want you to do it!

"Weird" - the highest of compliments.

I looooove Click, Clack, Moo as well! Heh- those cows just really get me.

I'll have to check out Knuffle Bunny...

Love "Babe" as well. "That'll do, Pig" is one of the best lines ever. The farmer is played by James Cromwell...he's been in a lot, and I loved him in "Six Feet Under" as well.
