An ornament for the new year

Every year I think I am going to make Christmas ornaments to give as gifts or swap. It never happens. The vital thing that escapes me is that to be able to do that in a timely manner one has to begin making the ornaments in October, or earlier. I am never in the Christmas spirit in October. I am mourning the loss of summer, enjoying the weather, ignoring Halloween, and cursing every leaf that falls in October.

So this year I decided that ornaments celebrating the new year are in order. I don't mind that no one thinks there is even such a thing as a new year ornament besides me. That just means that mine won't be late by anyone's calendar.

If the majority of my crafting stuff wasn't packed away in the storage space right now I'd be farther along. I did decide after much consideration not to hand sew these and they are zipping along so quickly with the machine that I know it was the right choice. My mother was a hardcore hand sewer (entire quilts) and I always feel like I am cheating if I use the machine.

It feels good to be making something, doing something creative.

P.S. Did you know that they make white felt with sparkles built in? I love felt, and sparkly felt? Be still my heart.

Back...I'm baaaaaack

Ok. I'm back. It's taken a bit to get myself situated, but I'm back. I let the house go today and worked on an actual craft today. It felt good. And I have tons of ideas and the sewing machine is out and it's all good. Tomorrow, WIP photos. Then some thoughts on the photography class that I did manage to finish. And rambling. All kinds of good stuff. I pinky swear.
