New Year, New Commitment
Happy 2007!
I obviously need help getting motivated. Well, the motivation is there, but I need help finding the time. I still need deadlines.
So Shelba and I have decided to craft together. You can join us if you'd like. We are going to choose one project or topic per month, and then make it.
Shelba said, "We should consider ourselves the Bill and Ted of crafting. Amy and Shelba's Excellent Crafting Adventure." She is not wrong. No, in fact she is very, very right. Shelba is craftier than I am. Much. I am a novice. I do not even own a Japanese craft book (oh the horror!). If you do not own a Japanese craft book I think it is virtually impossible to be taken seriously on the internets.
But then again I don't want to be taken seriously anyway. I think of this as nonintimidating crafting. I am intimidated by some of the craft sites out there. This is lower key. [Clearly.] Because I, for one, have no idea what I am doing. I am going to fumble along. Fumble along with me—it will be fun.
For January we have chosen "Bag" as our craft. That's it. Bag. Make some type of bag and you're in.
[I have made a sort of promise to myself that I will post a photo with every single post on this blog. Unfortunately I'm too tired to go and take a photo right now. I need a photo of a bag. I'm pretty sure I don't have one. That isn't something that I would have taken previously. So. No photo. But the only one who really needs to be disappointed about that is me.]

ok, this is very very sad, but i not only OWN a japanese craft book about bags, you are the pround owner of the only bag I have ever made, which was from said japanese craft book..... I am the poster child of this crafting movement, but with impeding packing and second adoption, I'm not sure I'll have time to make anything, unless rolling up ziplocks counts....

I think I will join your craft challenge this month, but it probably won't be pretty. Just got a sewing machine, so a bag sounds as good a place as any to start! Happy crafting.

OK. I made a bag for my kid's Bento boxes for Christmas. It is not fancy or even very cute. It is functional though. Can that count? I have my mom's old Morse machine and I just broke my last needle so I don't think I can make another just yet. I could try but I know the second attempt wouldn't really be better than the first. I am a lousy seamstress. I come from a long line of women who sew very well but I didn't inherit the gift so I offer up my awkward attempt just so I can play. Will each month's challenge require a sewing machine? Eek.
I am glad you are crafting and bloggiing about crafting again.
